Foredrag: Maki Suzuki
Graphic design as a tool for storytelling
Velkommen til et foredrag med Maki Suzuki, en fjerdedel av design- og kunstkollektivet Åbäke (sammen med Patrick Lacey, Benjamin Reichen og Kajsa Ståhl). Åbäke ble etablert i London i 2000. De har en konseptuell tilnærming til design og utforsker samarbeid og sosiale aspekter ved visuell kommunikasjon. Åbäke har en betydelig internasjonal produksjon bestående av utstillinger, arkitektur, undervisning og publikasjoner. Maki Suzuki arbeider for tiden med design til en utstilling med lydkunstneren Yuri Suzuki, som skal åpne på Stavanger kunstmuseum i 2027.

Work protocole.
I don’t know much.
Noticing something or meeting someone makes me react or make an object, something happen because and thanks to the act. For example a museum in my wallet, for another example showing how to cook a whole animal to my daughter, for another example the customs officer discovers body parts in my luggage or for a last example for now my partner almost goes to prison for 20 years etc.
I tell this story in public for a while.
I write it down and accept writing changes the telling.
I graphic design it in a publication, produce it and publish from a small publishing hut.
I hope people read it and I move onto another something and someone.
